![]() As someone with OCD tendencies, it makes me really paranoid that I'll accidentally delete a picture (yes, there's a prompt immediately after that asks you to confirm the Delete, but still.).ģ. What kind of a dunce decided to put the Delete button on top of the image, right next to the Zoom and Favourite buttons?! This is especially damning because I need to click the Zoom button frequently since I can't do it via my scroll wheel. It would have been much more logical to have "next" and "previous" buttons on the screen for skipping back and forth to the next/previous images, while designating the scroll wheel for the zooming function, like the Windows 7 Photo Viewer had.Ģ. Firstly, the mouse scroll wheel does not allow you to zoom in and out on the picture instead, scrolling the wheel makes you skip to the next image. The one I purchased has a newer Windows 10 OS (with Intel Core i7).Ĭompared to the Photo Viewer on Windows 7 (which was intuitive and had good usability), I am greatly annoyed by the default Photo Viewer on Windows 10:ġ. However, several months ago it broke from a fall, and so I had to get a new laptop. ![]() I've been using a Windows 7 OS laptop as my main home computer for the longest time, and everything was fine and dandy. If I were you, I would try all the top popular programs mentioned to see which one suits you the best. I think Image editors and more so, Image Viewers are like colors, everyone has their own taste and preference. One of the function I use a lot is the screen capture feature in conjunction with MS Paint which I configure as the default external image editor.įastStone Image Resizer is an excellent tool for batch processes. Once you get used to the keyboard shortcuts (X=crop, E=open external editor that you configured beforehand under settings, R=rotate image clockwise, L=rotate image counter clockwise, CTRL+R=resize, CTRL+S=save), basic image editing becomes a snap. I have paid like $20 many years back and the same registration code has been working for all the new version of FastStone since who knows when! I didn't want to have bunch of different image/photo apps and decided FS Image Editor/Viewer was good enough for most anything I needed it for. Paint.Net and GIMP are more of an editor and, imho, are impractical viewers. Picasa, IrfanView and FastStone are very good examples of Image Viewers with light editing features. ![]() Almost all the programs specialized in one and do less of the other functionality. People often confuse Photo/Image Editor and a Photo/Image Viewer. If you want a Photo MANAGER look into something like the most excellent and free: FastStone Image Viewer - Powerful and Intuitive Photo Viewer, Editor and Batch Converter Ifranview is no doubt the best for viewing or quick editing photos. Horrible advice, JZA without a good explanation. You can watermark it Christmas 2019 - Jenny, Joe and Bob.That information never leaves that photo, it's similar to to writing information on the back of physical photo.ĭon't go hacking your registry because some guy on the internet said too. Let's say you titled them Christmas 2019 and then took the time to list who was in each individual photo under comments. Getting back to Irfanview that text can then be used as output on you images. It's not just windows that can be used for either. This also makes them searchable for Christmas 2019, if you apply tags and comments that is also searchable. You can highlight multiple images and apply Christmas 2019 or whatever title you want. In windows file explorer or whatever the hell they are calling it nowadays on the view tab make sure details pane is selected. Quick tip but lets say you have photos from Christmas 2019. This can also be applied to file renaming. If the desired text is from EXIF or has a pattern it can be done in batch mode with irfanview. When I put a watermark on an image I do it as an additional opaque layer in because it is almost never the same text. Batch processing isn't something I ever need to do.
